I think there is a Kentucky Afield episode where the guest catches a state record white catfish. It may be on Youtube.

Not an albino, but the species white catfish.I knew of them ,but never caught or saw one in person until this morning when the wife caught about a 1 lber out of Williamstown Lake.
Had to pull out of there early as the skiers and pleasure boaters took over at 8:00 am.
First time I'd been there in years and I don't see how anybody could fish that place with all the numbskulls blasting up and down that small lake.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMIdlUxOfK4 from Guist Creek... I have never caught one, and would have been like the guy in the video.
I caught one of those, I think, on Ky Lake a few years ago. It was a golden yellow on top and white on bottom. I thought it was a channel cat with a weird color so I just threw it back.
I've got pictures on her phone ,but don't know how to transfer them to the internet as our phones are internet disabled.I have pics on a regular camera also and will post after I get them developed when we use up the roll of film.
To my knowledge, the only lake in the state that has them is Guist Creek. They are not native to Kentucky but to the rivers and streams of the east (North Carolina, etc.).
my friend catches them all the time in a private pond. i didnt know they were there own speices.
Thanks for the video link. I've never seen the white catfish, or ever heard of them. It was fun watching the video, and actually watched it several times. I was curious to see a better picture of it, and noticed that at the end of the video it says to see the fish at www.fw.ky.govhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMIdlUxOfK4 from Guist Creek... I went there, and could not find it. However, I did see the fish ID book link and downloaded the PDF and looked up the white catfish. On page 21 the white catfish is listed, but it as an a.k.a. for the blue catfish. I was disappointed with that.
Still, it was of great interest, so thank you again.
