I was in a tournament and caught a 33.67 lb cat on 12lb berkley big game using a poes crankbait. Took 35 minutes to get it in and it was submitted to the IGFA records for a yellow cat and was the biggest ever but the scale confirmation came too late!!!!!
My biggest was a 25lb drum on 6lb mono, using a spinning outfit. Luckily I was in a boat and able to chase the fish, otherwise I am certain I would never have gotten it in.
What I am dying to do is tie on a metal leader, and fish for the gar when they are schooling during the summer, about this time of year. I had one well over 4 feet long, but was using a CR'ed lizard, and of course it cut my line pretty quickly. Still that was a blast for a short period of time.
Tight lines,
HDF
My best is an 80# flat on 12# test 1\4 oz jig white grub. Below the falls.. Was submitted to IGFA. won there annual award for largest on 12#test also was a record holder for a short period of time. Got me into the 5to1 club. Lots a free stuff came in the mail. I was really more surprised catching it on a 1\4 oz jig than the 12# test...Chuck

Don, it was Trilene big game. The IGFA needed 2 line tippets to be sure...they are some sticklers. Gary Garth did a nice little piece on it in the Courier, if you go to my profile and hit a few fish I think the story is on my first page of pic's. Funny, he asked how long it took to get it in, I told him an hour and ten minutes or something like that it was actually 3 1\2 beers.LOL...Chuck
I got a flathead just shy of 30lbs on 6lb yozuri and a 6ft med/lite spinning rod. The big girl hit a tube while I was fishing for smallies in a river. Sure was fun.
Caught a 55lb blue on 14lb Berkley Big Game once. I was using a piece of crawfish tail meat about as big as my pinky.

Don, the one with he and I squating in the river holding those big blues was an awesome night. The guys taking that picture, there were three of them accused us of being crazy noodlers and I don't think ever believed us that we caught those fish on rod and reel, lol. We had a 42 plus one over 45 and a 60# all the same evening. Those were just the big ones, had some others to. Not a very good pic, but a fun night.
