Sorry to hear about your friend and it's sad what he left behind.
Most of us have an event that causes us to search for answers. The walk with Christ is a gift and he will teach you about yourself...more than any other teacher in your life. Good luck and God Bless.

There are a lot more of these folks walking around than most think. You really don't know what's happening in their mind.

Worked with a guy just like the man you described, I found him hanging in our shop, would of never ever guessed it. Couple years later, the wife he left behind, killed his and her 2 daughters and then shot herself. Sad situation, espically for the ones left behind.

There is an old quote that says "still water runs deep." Nothing hurts like being lonely in a crowd or having issues in your life that are so painfulful they are too deep for words. Suicide is never a spur of the moment decision; it usually has been given careful thought and consideration. As irrational as it my seem to the average person, most of the time the victim feels that they have run out of options or cannot find a way out of their situation. It doesn't matter that others are willing to help; at that particular time they appear to be driven by some unseen force. They start looking for precipitators and it can be something small and insignificant to others but it's exactly what they need to push them over the edge. They only want to be free of the thing that is causing them so much physical or emotional pain.

If a person indicates to me they are considering suicide, I immediately step in to intervene in the situation. I had rather err on the side of caution and overdo it than to be guilty of not doing enough. One person went as far as telling me how and when he would commit suicide. (High speed crash into a rock wall, on a mountain road, at 10:37 on Sunday morning). When he named the odd time and place, I knew he was serious; it took some hard work but that person is still alive and doing well today.

Please don't feel guilty about the suicide; you didn't know what was going on the man's life and couldn't help.

Did she die? This really changes the situation for me. I doubt i'd ever understand the reason for a person to commit suicide, but when they decide to gamble with someone else's life it's a whole different story.
