I've got a buddy who has been around boats and boating for a while, but had not ever owned a boat.
He's pretty smart.........has taken some boater safety courses, etc, etc.
He's had his new boat out a 1/2 dozen times or so, and feels comfortable with it......
A couple days ago, he told me he and his family were going down to Barkely to do some tubing and skiing.......
HM.......
Being that he's a new boater and all, would you go to barkely?
Just checking......

Depends on where on Barkley he is going....but my choice would be Ky Lake vs Barkley unless he is familiar with the lake...there are a lot more areas for this type fun on Ky Lake than on Barkley...if he is going to Barkley or even Ky Lake for that matter, tell him to feel free to call me and I will give him some advice about areas etc.
DAVE.......Thanks.......I will if he ends up there.

id tell him to go to ky lake
Barkley would be one of my last choices for that kinda boating in the state, but that's just me. Ky would be a better choice but even there you can mess up the works if you don't watch yourself.
I guess it depends on if that's the closest lake he has to go to, whether or not he has done his homework as far as Barkley is concerned and what his comfort level is as far as his boat handling is concerned. You said he's been around boats and boating for a long time so I'm assuming he has a lot of respect for the water, which means a lot and is a great starting point.
