    Engine dies and won't restart

I went out on the Ohio River yesterday with my fishing buddy and when I backed my boat off the trailer the engine died. Buddy was already parking my rig in the lot so I just lowered my trolling motor and proceeded to the dock.

When I engaged the key, nothing happened. So I look in the battery compartment and all the connections were tight. I then look and made sure the kill switch was attached.

The engine died while I was in reverse, backing off the trailer.

I NEVER PUT THE THROTTLE BACK IN NEUTRAL when trying to restart.
I placed the throttle back in neutral and the engine fired right up.

We then proceeded to catch the heck out of the catfish population on the Ohio!!!!!

LOL, I've had lots of those "Here's Your Sign" moments. I'm likely to do the unusual if I'm hitting the water about daybreak especially if I haven't had enough coffee.

We once got an anchor hung and had to cut the rope and leave it in the lake. I bought a new one and put it on the back of the boat. Next trip out we found the perfect spot with lots of fish showing up on the fishfinder. I rushed to the back, picked up the anchor and threw it as far out as I could. Just as it hit the water, I noticed there was no rope attached.

I spent 10 minutes at a pretty big tourny (i was nervous) trying to start my motor and then like a bolt of lightning I realized my kill switch was tripped! My non boater laughed later but at first he didn't say a word he knew the way I already felt. Here's your sign...
