tube hooks?

I havent been tube fishing for long now, still learning. I have been using Owner phantom tube hooks, they seem to work good, the tube stays on and they dont tend to hang up too bad, but are hard to find. I'm leaving on tues to go to northern Michigan for some smallmouth and salmon fishing and was wanting to pick up some more hooks on the way up. What are some of the hooks you guys use for tubes? Thanks for any advice and I will post from my trip and have some pics too.

ive always used a weedless tube hook that i buy at walmart. i think the brand might be ARKEY or something close to that spelling. probably not the best set-up but i havent had any problems using them. they look alot like a crappie tube hook with a weedless wire. good luck in michigan. later

When using tubes I love the hp hooks with Shaw Grigsby picture on it. They have a clip at the top which helps hold the tube in place

I like Wide Gap Gammys 2/0-4/0 depending on the size of the tube. Sure you have to fix the tube after a hookset or caught fish but it's not that bad.

When using tubes I love the hp hooks with Shaw Grigsby picture on it. They have a clip at the top which helps hold the tube in place

I use these too. They are an Eagle Claw brand -- Shaw Grigsby High Performance and they're shaped like a Kahle hook. They come in red and platinum black. I only use the platinum black ones.

Like bigrod said, they have a "parasite clip" at the top that helps to hold the plastics in place. They compliment a tube very well due to their shape.

However, your plastics need to have a thick head on them if you use these hooks. If you use tubes with thin plastic heads, the clip seems to tear them easily on a hard hookset. All you have to do is re-hook the tube on the opposite side.

I've never used worm hooks and seperate weight, I always use tube jigs where the lead is molded on the hook and inserted into the tube...is this not how you guys fish your tubes?

I personally use the jig heads when I am fishing rip rap or other rocky structure. This allows for less hang ups since a bullet weight will slide down between the rocks. When I am fishing a flat bottom or grass, I would much rather use the bullet weight. I think a worm rig gives the tube a much more natural action. Thats just my two cents and may not be correct.

Thats the way I have always fished them. More of a darting type action. IMO.

I use a bullet sinker and peg it myself. Never really used the molded in weights. I have tried the sinkers that you place inside the tube and run the hook through the end to keep it place. Each way does impart i's own separate action.
