I'm headed up to bluegrass tomorrow and Wednesday. Any advice or suggestions on where/how to fish there? Thanks in advance.

stick to the dropoffs. bass can be caught in shallower water but the quality bass tend to work the dropoffs. i will be there tomorrow as well, so hopefully we have some good luck!

I think the bass are starting to transition a little bit. Theres fish on the dropoffs and theres fish just relating to shad. I havnt seen any real agressive fish busting all over shad but when iv found a group of shad i could throw a crankbait around them and get a bass.

Which pit you fella's gona fish tomorrow? I might go late morning to early afternoon

5 bass and that's it. Only one above slot. Dropped some crickets in about 10-14' around the deep drop offs and caught 13 small crappie. The biggest was almost 9 inches. But that's not the best part! There was a guy on the north ramp that had no idea what was going on. He took about 10 minutes to back his trailer up. And of course didn't remove a strap until he was backed all the way in. So he finally gets the boat in the water and moves his truck. He hops in the boat and fires it up. So I back down, after unhooking everything of course. So while I'm letting the winch out I look up and see the back of the other boat underwater and I mean about 6 inches up his back deck under! So i crank mine back up as fast as possible. Move my truck out of the way. This guy had no line at all onhis boat and had to actually throw me his winch to pull him back to the ramp. So he jumps out and runs to his truck and again tries to back down, which he wasn't going to get. So I run up the ramp get in his truck and back it down. I get the winch strap hooked on his boat while we were both waist deep in water. By this time the water was about 2 foot up his back deck. We winch it up as far as we could he jumps in the truck and pushes the clutch in and doesn't give it any gas! There goes the truck! So now the truck has it's back tires covered exhaust is bubbling I'm yelling don't turn it off!!!!!! And his itty bitty four banger won't pull it out!!! This time I was driving, I learned my lesson! So I put the parking breakon run to my truck pull my truck around and tie on the tow strap. So now I'm pulling a truck, trailer and flooded boat while my boat is still hooked on. Talk about a complicated backing up job! So now he's out and gets crappy with me for not helping him sooner! So the lesson of this story? God hates it when people don't unstrap before backing down the ramp! Oh, and I showed him how to put the plug in his boat.

Did the new boat work out ok for you?
I talked with Ken yesterday. He is the IDNR guy that conducts the fishing surveys for Dan. Good guy.

Gordon Woods was at the Bluegrass Pit ramp checking people who were fishing.

Did you catch any fish yesterday?

I still have not got to fish this year but I am trying to keep up with what's going on at bluegrass.

Perhaps I can get the boat back out in a few more weeks.
