    Taking someone who doesn't fish..fishing

My uncle asked me to take him fishing this weekend and I said I would if I do go. I usually stay away from the water on Memorial and Labor Day weekend but I thought what the heck? My uncle has very limited fishing experience if any at all. I am a strictly bass fisherman. The lightest equipment I have are a couple of med/light spinning rods that I use for drop shot and shakey head. I need some inputs as to where and how to put him on some panfish. I am thinking somewhere with a big idle zone, plenty of room to get away from the pleasure boaters and the crowd. Somewhere with decent bass fishing without going to the main lake when I'm tired of watching bobber. It needs to be within 1-1.5 hours from Indy. Geist, Morse, Eagle Creek, Waveland are definetely out of the question. The only two places that come to mind right now are Monroe and Raccoon. What do you guys think?

I would NOT goto Hardy on Labor Day.........you GOTTA be kidding......it will be a ZOO, even in the slow water.

Better to go ANYWHERE the pleasure boaters cannot. Look for a trolling motor only lake......Deam, Hoosier Nat, John Hay, etc, etc.

Another option would be Dogwood..........Not trolling only, but NO pleasure boaters.

I LOVE Hardy, but I don' think going on Labor Day would be a good option.

Go to Lake Lemon!! HaHa just kidding... No your best bet to stay away from the pleasure boaters is to go to Monroe & put in at cutright and fish the slow side of Monroe. I'm not sure how the Panfishing is, but at least you can get away from the crazies!

    After reading your stuff again..........

Westwood in New Castle might be good........I have not been there in years though.

Also the Crosley FWA is good.....

I thought about Westwood and Whitewater but I hate trolling motor only lake. It takes forever to get around. So if I was going after bluegill and/or crappie, what should I be looking for?

Westwood has a GOOD number of bass..........Not sure if it still has a slot or not, but years ago, it was nothing to catch 50 a trip.

And with regards to trolling motor only............that is the ONLY lake I'd target on a LONG weekend........Labor Day is the last weekend of pleasure boating.

But I must admit.........I'm headed to KY to fight the KY, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois Navies..........
