Woman Charged With Spanking Stranger's Toddler
Police arrested 43-year-old Gloria Ballard of Cincinnati on Tuesday following the incident at the Salvation Army store on Clay Street in Over-the-Rhine. CINCINNATI – A woman is facing charges after she allegedly took it upon herself to discipline a stranger's toddler inside a local store.
Police arrested 43-year-old Gloria Ballard of Cincinnati on Tuesday following the incident at the Salvation Army store on
Clay Street in Over-the-Rhine.
According to police documents, Ballard told the mother she didn't know how to care for her son, then proceeded to pick up the 2-year-old boy, put him over her lap, and spank him three times.
Police say Ballard did not have permission to touch the child and, as a result, she is now charged with assault. She is due in court on Wednesday afternoon.

Now how do you know that it was the parents fault? The child could have been sick and crying or it could have been misbehaving. Who knows The article did not say. I think that it could work both ways. Which ever the case, the lady had no right to touch a child that was not hers.

If somebody even attempted to touch my child in such a manner, they would be leaving by ambulance!
Never discipline someone elses children. That is the parents job. IMHO.

Actually they would need the coroner if someone touched my kids. I will go to jail peacefully after I have completed unleashing my wrath on the crackhead. Yes I said crackhead. Because they would have to be on crack to attempt such a foolish act.
I wouldn't beat them to death (don't want the long jail sentence), just to the brink!
Judging by the looks of the lady in the photo, she might have been on some crack! She looks a little strung out IMO. And that's why you don't shop at the Salvation Army!

It's not the place of a stranger to discipline someone elses child. She should have disciplined the parent!
Based upon the info the stranger was wrong...we all know that. I don't think anyone in their right mind would handle another persons child like that but I would like to know what the other party looked like.
I can't believe the mother let a stranger even come near her child. To think she did nothing to protect it makes it even worse; she should have been charged with child neglect and endangerment. I would have mopped the entire store with the other woman's head. I'm with the guy who wondered what the mother looked like but I also wonder what she was doing that was so important she didn't pay attention to her child.
Considering the mother was shopping at the Salvation Army store in Over-The-Rhine (worst neighborhood in Cincinnati) I doubt if she was much either, paper didn't show her to protect the child I assume.
Either way no stranger is going to lay a hand on my child without severe repercussion.
Not sure if I'd kill them (although it seems like murderers get lesser sentences these days),but you can bet I would hurt someone. While nobody likes an unruly child or to hear one crying nonstop,it's still not their place to correct or touch the child.
