The Obey river at Celina Tenn is a great trout river, it runs out of Dale, it is not much futher than Trambel. There were also a couple of streams in Simpson Co that has trout reg stocked. Good luck.

I'm going to KY to fly fish for trout for a few days before a tournament on KY Lake next weekend. Where is my best bet to go for some decent sized browns and holdover rainbows? I'll be camping so somewhere close to a campground would be nice. It looks like the Cumberland might be too high and fast next week. I was going to try Ft. Campbell but it's deer season and they don't want me out there tying to fish with deer hunters roaming around. It's been a while since I've fly fished and I'm really pumped and don't want to go somewhere where I'll be disappointed. I would prefer somewhere in the middle or western part of KY. Someone had suggested Trammel Fork but I'd like to find somewhere that has at least 3 or 4 miles of trout fishing instead of just 1.
Please help!!!!!

Try Casey Creek inTrigg County, it has 3.6 miles of trout water and will have trout in it. This a a catch and release stream from Oct. until March 31, so keep that in mind. It is also close to Kentucky Lake so you should be good to go.
Hey Tim, Is that one of the creeks in Ft. Campbell? They told me they didn't want me fishing there because it's deer season.
Unfortunately, besides the CR, there is no other place that contains "nice" browns and bows. All the other creeks that contain trout are full on stockers (10"). Your best bet would still be the CR and just work the shoreline and inlets with the fly rod. Throw some big streamers and you could produce some monsters. Fish on!

Forecast for CR is 9.8 until late this week when it should come down to 6.4. 6.4 is fishable, but still very high and swift. Put in at the dam and fish the rock wall opposite of the ramp downstream until the timber. A larger #6 or #4 white streamer on a fast sinking line should work well. Don't bother nymphing or dries.
We used that method about 3 weeks ago during high water and caught several rainbows in the upper end of the slot.
Thanks Rich and flyfish. I sent Rich an email before I saw this. I'm not bringing a boat down. Now I'm wishing I would have planned on it. I've seen on one of the web sites that there a bunch of put and grow streams. Any of those any good for 14" to 16" browns and bows?
I did get a bunch of big streamers at Bass Pro yesterday![]()
