I'm planning on taking my neighbor down to Barkley and KY Lake for the weekend. He hasn't fished in years and I'm trying to get him back into it. I haven't been down there in months and was wanting a little help. Are the bass moving shallow yet in good numbers? Are the lakes on the fall and is shallow the best way to go this weekend or with colder weather by end of week will most the bass still be out in transition? Any help is appreciated I don't want to take him out and not put him on anything!!

As always check Dave's report Thursday night/Friday morning before you go. My good friend that lives down on Barkley said they have been slaying them on topwater. He doesn't fish KY but on Barkley his pattern last weekend was topwater and shallow in the creeks.
Several of us just got back from Barkley this past weekend. We fished Ford's Bay all day Friday. Caught several keepers with the largest being 3.8. We caught them on Rattle Traps, Bandit 100 series (Root beer & Chartreuse) and Chartreuse spinnerbaits. Most of the fish we caught were shallow. The laydowns almost always held fish. Fish them thoroughly as some of the times, we pulled more than one off of a single laydown. Most fish were pretty shallow tho.. We followed Dave Stewart's report from last week and it was right on!!! Check it again on Thursday for an update... Good Luck!!
Any more updated help before we leave in the morning?
My latest report is up on the Ky Lake Report page....be careful tomorrow, wind forecast is 15-25 from the SW.
How did you guys do?? The weather was pretty close to what we had to deal with.
Well I didn't make it because my neighbor back out on me Thursday afternoon because of work. The guys that did go down went crappie fishing and didn't do very well. I guess I will be going to Barren first weekend of Nov. to catch some bass. I hope weather stays nice!
My buddy and I went and we didn't do too well. All our fish came on three spots and the best bite was early and late. All on crankbaits. Couldn't get a bite on anything else.
