    $35,000 for flowers

Did you see where Nancy Pelosi spent $35,000 of your tax money for flowers? Times are tough unless you're in the government where the money rolls in non stop. According to her, the lion's share of the flower money was spent on Jack Kemp's funeral. When's the last time you spent company money on flowers for a fallen coworker? Let me help out. Never. You pay for flowers out of your own pocket, just like the very wealthy Ms. Pelosi should.

In fairness, pols from both parties spend money like they stole it. We pay over a billion dollars a year for everything from salaries to bottled water for our esteemed government officials in Washington DC. The longer they've been in office, the more they get to spend.

As long as there are people delusional enough to vote for more and bigger government it ain't gonna get any better.

I think America should have a No vote. What I mean is every American eligible to vote Unite to agree to NOBODY turning out to vote at all.

What would the clowns do?? It would send a strong message to all of them that we think each and everyone of them are Garbage and should be taken out witht the rest of the trash.

Can you see the news.............................Uh well, it seems no one voted today, Washington is looking into seeing what can be done, Awe the humanity, just imagine.

Peloci needs to go. Has needed to go for a while.

I like Mark's idea. May be something along the lines of a line on the ballot for "none of the above". If a candidate did not get 50% of the vote, they could not win. Would allow people to vote and not have to hold their nose and pull the lever for someone they really did not like. Would also send a message to politicians that many did not like them.

Gotta tell you all what....I think I'm about ready to get some counseling, lol...all this dag gone talk about how much money is being wasted by our government is making my blood pressure go up, kind of tending to bring out the real redneck side of me in a not so good way....I remember a few years ago back when Chevrolet had a "Heartbeat of America" slogan going on, lots of Heartbeat stickers, etc....well anyway, during that time period I saw a Toyota pick up truck with a sticker that read "Heartbeat of Japan", it was all I could do from giving the owner of said vehicle a piece of my mind. Anyway, in regards to this thread...makes me wanna start by hauling around big signs on my truck that read something like: "Screw the United States Government before they Screw You!". It seems the first place I know to start is out on the road where the general public is. I know this ain't right guys...but dag gone man, what the heck...someone care to help me chill out a little bit? Or should I just grin and bare it and take what they're dishing out? What do you all think?

Easy man, we all feel the same way, especially when we really watch our government operate. On the bright side, we still got the best gig on the planet earth right here in the good ole U.S. of A. Just do your part. Pay attention, take every chance you can to speak out against socialism, vote to reduce the Federal government's power, and go fishing much as you can.

I'll be on Barren freezing my hiney off the next 2 days, and crooked arsed politicians won't even exist till Monday. Enjoy life brother...when you get right down to it, it's ALL good.

It is a terrible thing that a government employee would spend government money to this degree on flowers. It is totally ridiculous. I am glad that things like are publicized so the people can see what polilticians need to go. There must be some way the people can voice their anger at this type of abuse. I dont think you have to stand by and take it. The government works for you and your taxes pays their salaries. I think its important to let them know what things like this are not tolerated. The more active a person is the better you feel that you are trying to make a difference. Just my 2 cents.

Chub, just curious, how many letters or emails have you sent to the President, your Senators or you Congressman this year? AND, what did you say to Pelosi when you wrote her?

Zero! Yea, I know...quit my griping if I ain't gonna write to the idiots I'm complaining about...I don't know Grump...sending a letter off like you're mentioning seems sort of like sending a letter to Santa Claus to me...write it, get some things off my mind, let some of the capital hill folks know I think they're wasting my money, etc, send it through the post office then poof..did it really get opened by the person I wanted to open it? Kind of wondering if the person it's addressed to will really read the darn thing, etc...

I know you've wrote letter's in past, what's your experience with this been?

Chubminnow: Members of Congress do read e-mails and will respond to your letter with a "form" letter. At least you get to know that they are aware of your stance on a particular issue.

If enough of their constituents let them know how they feel, I tend to believe that they want to get re-elected and will vote the wishes of the majority of their voters. I know that's really naive, but at least I can tell them how I feel.

    Re: $35,000 for flowers

Chub, Tyme2fish is right on, and thanks to him for providing the web sites to contact the Presidnet, Senators and Congress.

Every politician has staffers in their offices that don't do anything but answer mail and make sure their boss knows what was written about.

I have written letters to every President since and including Dwight D. Eisenhower and I have written to all most all of my Senators and Congressmen during that same time. I have visited the local offices of several Congressmen and Senatores and I have seen firsthand how constituent correspondence is handled, always by staffers. That is their job!! They are supposed to read the letter (or email today), make a tick mark whether the person is for or against a particular topic; prepare a rely (either individually or computer generated); and use a auto-pen or an ink stamp to sign the letter, then mail it. Unless there is something unusual, the politician never sees the mail, the staffers just inform them periodically what there are getting.

The vast majority of Americans don't vote, much less take the time to write their Representatives, Senators or President; therefore, the politicians, depending on the topic, assume that for every letter or email they do get, there are X number of other people that feel the same way.

If more people took the time to vote AND INFORM THE POLITICIANS OF WHAT THEY WANT OR DON'T WANT, we wouldn't be in the trouble we are now. Email from the websites Tyme provided is good but I still believe that personal, snail mail, letters are viewed as more important and given more weight.
