Thought I'd seen every iteration of this scam ever invented...then I get the following email...

However, I have a serious concern with which I believe you might be of help and for this reason, My name is Mrs Judith Hoffmann, I.m 57yrs old .I am a nationality Deutsch.I'm married to Deutsch (a German ) Mr Marco Hoffmann who worked with ELF OIL COMPANY for thirty years before he died in the plane crash On 25th of July 2000 with other passengers aboard.


We were a dedicated Christians and decided to serve mankind to the best of our ability. Since his death, I have lived with the memories, fighting ffortelessly to lead a normal life but all to no avail. I suffered mentally and psychologically and shortly was diagnosed of Cancer. I lived with the scourge praying earnestly for divine intervention. Just a month ago, the doctor informed me that I have just about three months more to live. I was shocked, I accepted the news in good fate. Brethren, it is in this regard that I write to you, after fervent prayers. Before my husband died, he deposited a sum of $5.6Million (Five Million six Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) with a bank in cote d'ivoire. I have wholeheartedly decided to donate the entirety of this fund to any devoted believer or organisation and to achieve this, I need an individual that will utilize this funds adherently for these purposes.


1: For the sick, less-privilledged and destitute,

2: For the Widows and the motherless babies e.t.c.

3: orphanages, Research centres and widows propagating.


These are the wishes of a dying woman. They are the desires of my heart, hence my decision as I do not have a child to take over my inheritance. They are getting even more evil as now they are pulling at the heart strings of nice naive people. I had an elderly aunt that passed away at 91 and she was a true saint of a woman. Would give her shirt off her back for you. She would hand out her hard earned money to anyone who asked. She thought they needed it more than her. It bothers me that there are alot of people like my aunt mostly elderly who would fall for this. Makes me mad.

So now you know I hate terrorists and con artists. No surprise I worked 18 years in Corrections, eh?

No surprise 'gills, from your posts you seem like a good person. Corrections eh? I'll take a wild guess and say you were a parole officer for 18 years.

I agree a con who'd would take advantage of an elderly or sick person is definitely one of the lower forms of life.

I found this particular slant on one of the internet's oldest scams interesting because instead of just taking advantage of people's greedy bad side, they're trying to get at their good side too. If scumbags like these put as much thought into making an honest living as they did scamming, they'd probably be wealthy.

Hey Dh, You are close. Probation/Parole Officer for 10 years and then a Caseworker/Counsellor in a prison for 7 yrs and then a Youth Counsellor with young offenders for 1 year in an open custody group home. The young ones were the worst. I found offenders not to be the brightest bulbs in the package but the white collar criminals(fraud types) could have used what little God gave them for smarts to do law abiding work like being used car salesmen. But they dont want to be law abiding as where is the fun in that, they enjoy the risk. I am happy that alot of the elderly do not have computers as they would fall for those cons easily. Big snow storm coming on Wednesday so I will get out the dog sleds for that one. lol Thanks.
