Got some news yesterday from a distant cousin of my Dads who now resides in West Chester,Ohio. He tracked Dad down via telephone after many years of no contact,we are all direct decendants of some of the earliest settlers in SouthWestern Va and into Kentucky.seems like he was doing some Geneology research back home in Lee County,Va and found an OldTimer up in a Hollow that knew where an ancient graveyard was located along the Powell River that contained some of these ancestors from the mid-late 1700's.
The people that own the land refused him access at first until he went to the county courthouse and found out there is an easement and laws that allow our family access, the people had built buildings in the easement ans cooperated at the threat of moving their buildings. He fenced the place off temporarily until this spring when some of us are going to clean the place up.
One of the folks buried there is Lt Vincent Hobbs who shot and killed the notorious Cherokee Chief Benge ending Indian Attacks in the 1790's,he was my Grandfathers - Great Grandfather.
No National news just some family news I thought was interesting to share.

That is cool. I love going back to Georgia and seeing the family history.
