Talking Oldy but a goody for winter Bass

I fished Nolin today Cold rain and dug deep in to the box and found a bait I have not us in years. Caught 2 fish on a Crank Bait a 12"-and a 14". And that was it so found a old winter time friend and Caught 4 Keepers the biggest was 3.50lbs the other 3 were around 2.00-2.50lbs. Had 19 fish in all the small 1 for the day was 10inch Spot. Water temps where I was was 44.5-43.7 Not bad for mid Dec. Water was mud from State ramp up to wax. If you have read this far I will tell you what I was using it was a 4.5 and a 5 inch GRUB. A Grub of all thing but it worked like a charm. Up to the Dam the water had good color and that was where I was at I did fish Brier Creek it had good color but they are still pulling the lake so the water will be all mud by monday. Hey if you are fishing this winter give the grub a try 1/8oz. Round jig head with a 2/0 hook worked real well today. Tight lines and wear your life vest this winter at all times be safe.

Wow,thats a great winters day fishing,i have a place down at nolin and always say im going to fish it in the winter but have never got around to it yet. When you were fishing the grub were you using a continious retreive or fishing it on bottom like a worm ?

I was using it on Deep Banks with the 1/8oz Let it go till hit bottom then a slow reel back. But most of the bigger fish came on the fall.

Aaahh, the classic grub. Can't go wrong with throwing a grub in cold water...nice slow retrieve keeping that tail flippin...definitely works. Sounds like you had a good time, that's important this time of year...keeps ya going till spring.
