    Indiana motorized Lake Permit

Although I'm a resident of Indiana, I haven't bought an Indiana Motorized Lake permit ever as I fish the Ohio river and lakes in Kentucky. I've also just been buying the out of state Kentucky fishing license as I had no need for an Indiana resident license fishing on the Ohio.

In 2010 my main fishing partner (Kentucky resident) and I are going to retry fishing at Patoka and maybe Hardy Lake. I bought Indiana fishing licenses for myself and my wife on line with no problem.

Here's where I get peeved. I buy the Lake Permit on line and there's a $4.00 shipping fee added on. ?? WTF?? $4.00 to put a sticker in an envelope and mail it to me? What really irks me is that this a legal requirement in order for me to launch my boat at Patoka. Charge me $24.00 for the permit and I'm happy. But don't say the permit is $20.00 and then add on another 20% fee just to send it to me.

Just another big government tax (fee) on the masses. Let me repeat. I'm not going to argue much over the Lake permit fee. It's just the additional fee for mailing that irks me.

I know how you feel, you can buy the pass at the gate at Hardy or any other prop that charges an entrance fee. I've got to buy an additional 5 dollar permit for my non motorized canoe.

Lexington charges two dollars if you pay a vehicle registration by mail. I'll pay it...saves me from standing in line and trying to find a parking place.

Indiana DMV has finally gotten it right. You get a $5.00 CREDIT if you renew your plates online. That's a no brainer for me.

Sure beats a visit to the local DMV for plate renewal and I can get my plates renewed while sitting in my underwear!!

I have to buy two permits. I have stratos with 200hp and 16ft with a 25hp. They will not let me just carry one. It has to be attached to the boat.

I don't know if they still are, but the boys at Patoka used to be ticket happy. They'd slap a ticket on you for sure for " Not Properly Displaying Permit."

    Re: Indiana motorized Lake Permit

A buddy of mine and his family asked me to go with them joyriding at Patoka once alst year in his runabout. I don't do much of this but thought what the Hey I'll go. It helps him out because the wife isn't very boat savy and won't drive the truck while boat is in tow, so it helps him out. Anyway by the time he got done paying lauching fees, user fess, blah blah blah I think he had 25 dollars or so just to launch and float that tub for one stinking day. I thought that was absolutely ridiculous, and told him I wouldn't give that to put a boat in the water. Why he wanted to joyride there I don't know, but Hoosiers are proud of their water and they can keep it for all I can say, lol.

Hell for 25 dollars they better have really good looking girls in bikin's valet parking and tieing off my sled when I get there, Sheeze.

    Re: Indiana motorized Lake Permit

Tyme I am not happy about having to pay for the permit - but - it is better than when they had the Launch Fee Permit. The DNR would show up at the ramps early in the morning and snag money from the fishing boaters and leave before the pleasure boaters launched #$%&**#$ . . . .

Now the first Indiana trip of the year I stop by the Patoka property office and pick-up that permit. You would think they could work that into the registration - get it when you get all your tags online?
