    Question Installing a trolling motor

I need to install a trolling motor on my HydraSport BB. I currently have a 33lb minnkota and need to put on a Motorguide 43lb tm. My question is the holes that are currently there probably don't match up. Is there any kind of a bolt system that works without access to hold a bolt and nut together inside the top rail on the front of the boat? What can you use here?? Is there a special tool or procedure to get this done right?
    Thanks
    Bassky

if there isnt any way to take something off and get your arm in there to hold the nuts, maybe you can redrill the new motors plate to match the old holes?

There are rubber inserts you can buy. You drill the holes put in the rubber inserts and when you tighten the srew it makes the rubber expand inside the hole which holds your motor on. I had the same problem and bought some a few years ago at a local marine store and they have worked great!

I've used those MANY times........Get the ones for the LARGEST trolling moter you can. They make them for 35 and 55 and 75. BUY the biggest ones you can.

    I pulled out the 55's on a 55.....

If you run Ky Lake or very much rough water, those rubber toggles WILL NOT HOLD.

STRAP your motor down, so it cannot bounce, and SURE, it they hold.

I've done it on two boats now.........BUT I agree, KY will POUND your boat to death
