His young'un got first place in a casting contest at the Louisville Boat show. I will let Chuck give you the details.

Also, it was great to meet Eddie (fishing4kids). Super guy and doing a lot of work to get the kiddo's involved in the sport.

I love hearing kid stories. I am only 27 and could remember when I was young I practiced casting at my granny's house in leaf piles under trees and bushes drilling sinkers into the leafs pretending they were big bass. My daughter is 1 1/2 and I have a pic of her holding a rod and reel trying to reel it. Getting kids involved in fishing is what it's all about!!

thanks tim he has ben on cloud 9 all day since he won his trophy today. mason is 7 and he has ben fishing since he was 3 and throwing a bait caster since he was 5 and can do it like he has ben fishing for years. not just becouse he is my son but he is a real special kid when it comes to fishing i can remember when he was first starting to talk and going through a bass pro magazine and telling people what a spinnerbait was, rattle trap crank bait jerk bait, jig, worms, trailers,i mean he is all about some fishing and for him to handle a baitcaster like he does is unreal. i am so proud of him and i wouldn't have him ate up with anything else. and by the way his fav. fisherman is "ike" hes not much on kvd but he likes tim horten to. he would set in my lap and still does and watch all the fishing shows when they come on every since he was borne. i just want to say congrats to mason i love you buddy i need fishing lessons.

    thanks to everyone

Thumbs up Re: Congrat's to Smuckeye and his son

Congrats to Mason. I hope he becomes a top pro one of these days. There's nothing nicer than seeing a kid love something like fishing & being totally capable when they're so young. Great think your doing with him Dad & keep up the good work.

If he doesnt become a pro one day, he will probley be taking my money in all the local tourneys. during the casting contest he was pitching and casting. Just think Chuck if he used his bait caster he would have scored higher. congrads to mason, and congrads to Chuck for taking Mason back to the boat show for the final day of the casting contest.

maybe thats the trick to it you have to dance wile your burning the swim bait. the dancing gives it a erratic action.lol
