Question Fisherman's Motel at Lake City (Barkley Lake Area)

Can't remember name of Motel, but stayed there a couple of years, ago. Can anyone help with name (and phone number)? It's one of those mom and pop "fishermans motels". Located near Barkley Dam, not far after you cross the bridge going West. Located to the right on (I believe on Hwy 917 aka Stringtown Road). Alternatively, if going East, and going past where the Pelican restaurant is/was located, then it would be off on a road to your left just before getting to the Barkley dam bridge.

    Thanks ,
    Gary

That's close and in the area, but don't believe that's it. Barkley Dam Motel is on Stringtown Rd, but just off I24. The motel I am remembering is on Stringtown Road, but just of hwy 62 (641). There is also a small grocery near there (on hwy 62) that opens EARLY in the AM where you can get a hot breakfast. But again, I don't remember the name of it either? An't it great to get old and can't remember crap!

I think the hot breakfast you are talking about is at Ken's. I think it is either $3.00 or $4.00 bucks you can get eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, coffee and rolls. If you leave hungry it is your own fault.

The Pelican also has a nice nice dinner that is close by.

FYI, I'm a big fan of Poplar Creek Motel. Very clean with rod holders in the room. Really nice proprietors. No smoking in the rooms.

Yea.......I will be a THIRD vote for Poplar Creek.

GREAT Place...............That is the only place I stay anymore. If I'm fishing sugar, or past fenton, I just know I've got a little driving.

I've taken my wife to stay there also, you it gets GOOD marks from her also.

how far is that place from energy lake? I like that ramp to fish barkley, and there is a ramp across the road to fish energy if I'm so inclined. Energy is near the trace.

Poplar Creek is up by Buzzard Rock........right next to the Cabin Bait and Tackle.

And they give a 10 percent discount to the cabin and most places to eat around that area.......

Actually, I should say.........right next to the OLD Cabin Bait and Tackle. I believe the new one is a few miles down the road.
