Barren River Lake

I stopped by the Corps of Engineers Office near the dam today and asked when the Port Oliver ramp (new last year) would be open for use this year. It has been closed this winter to extend the ramp and upgrade the facilities. Their target date for it to be open is mid September so apparently we will not be able to use it this spring and summer. Also they are starting to raise the water level in the lake toward summer pool since they have reduced the amount of water going through the dam to a minimal amount. April 15 is their target date for Barren River Lake to be at summer pool, but of course we all know that the weather has a lot to say about that. Good fishing.

I dont think anyone truely knows when the ramp is going to be open. I have talked to 10 different people with 10 different answers! HAHA Ranger Bob said its going to be open in April.

Thanks for the info now I know we'll have to change ramps for the tourney at the end of the month.
