mono will give you stretch on the hookset but fluor is invisible in clear water where mono is not. Fluor also does not stretch and can pull out on the hookset at times if you set too hard.

I will be fishin this year with 4 rods.
i have one spinning rod and 3 bait casters
one is on a med pole and the other is on a med heavy.
I also have a crankin stick from bass pro I want to use nothing but crankbaits and lipless crankbaits.
I have heard that on a crankbait rod you should use mono line because of the strech. so that the bait deflects better when hitting an object.
I am using a 14 pound XPS fluorocarbon.
anyone have some feed back on this topic?

I strictly use xps fluoro on all my crankbait reels now, I use the 10lb test. I matched this with a bps crankin stick and I couldnt be happier with the results. I feel like the fluorocarbon has gave me better feel of my crankbaits, its getting them down deeper because of the small diameter, and the fluoro line also sinks. I havent lost any fish because of the line that I know of, the crankin stick has a good soft tip which helps from setting the hook to hard. I love the results I have gotten since switching, and I am sure someone that knows a little more than I will tell you to stick with fluorocarbon because of the benefits. If I were you, I might consider going to a smaller diameter to help get those baits down a little deeper!
so..... if i just slow down on the hook set I should be fine using fluor?
just use a rod with a softer tip, so you are not pulling the hooks out of their mouth
Suffix Crankin' Line!!! Great stuff.
I use the Suffix cranking line also. Love it. Also, Fluorocarbon line not stretching isn't true. Tests have proven it stretches as much or more than mono. Many line companies don't even list that as a feature on the packages anymore. Check out this study. Very neat website by the way. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewfluorocarbon2.html
I never knew that Drew. I have had trouble with fluor fraying up and snapping easy. Could of just been me or how I was fishing. I do like the feel of it though and it is true you can feel everything on the bottom.
The only downside i see with fluro for crankin is the price. It will get the bait down deeper, and you get better feel. I still use mono tho.. Just because i can get a couple years worth a cajun red for less than 300 yards of good fluro.
The Suffix Deep Cranking is a mono that sinks like the fluoro. Much cheaper and works great.
i use a bps crankin stick and 8 or 10 pound p-line halo or 100% fluorocarbon, and fluoroclear. i will use a side sweep hook set and use a nice smooth drag. and have never had any trouble with loosing fish that wasnt my fault.
