    Beaver Lake

We fished for a few hours today and caught 6 bass in jigs and tubes. The water temp was 57-59 for us.
There were too many boats for me and the wind was tough to fish in but thats where we caught our fish.
I hope the grass comes back!

Oh yeah...I got checked again by the game warden...all was ok because I follow the law.
My question is why is this lake so heavily patrolled? Is it because of the hp limits? Are there game wardens that live close by? No biggie either way but I have been checked on this lake more than all other lakes combined and I only fish this lake a few times a year.

I fish Beaver very often, havent been checked in years. My freind used my boat 2 weeks ago and got checked. Maybe hp limits, I dont know. Hopefully Fish and wildlife management are going to take it easy on the grass this year. I personally like to fish the grass mats, but I think they keep the grass down so it is easier on the pan fish fishermen. Pan fish generate more income for the dock, such as worms and other bait. I think there are even panfish that have been taged so if you catch one you get the prize that is registered for that fish.

Thank you for the post, the big mama's should be moving up to get ready for the spawn soon. My son is on spring break so we may head out here shortly to see what we can do. He is only 9 but he can catch fish. Then I'll have to go to Herrington for a fast boat ride. He loves going for a ride and stopping to throw rocks from the bank.

I love the grass as well and it helps the bass fishing. I have alot in common with your son cause I like to go fast on the water and throw/skip rocks!
    Good luck!

It's allways been like that there; I've allways thought ( could be off base on this), that becouse there are some people that live on the lake that are...how can I see this that will be politaclay correct...very high up in our Gov., not only in Kentucky...but even higher VIP's. Their familys and realtives live out there most all the time...And there are those that have lived on the lake for more than 40 some years that play no games...they will call the law when they see people breaking the law out there in a heart beat..and of course that is most all the time. Heck when I was out there I was waked by a boat that had a 90hp!!! And he was going full board, not only maybe 200 yards from the dock!!!I heard that a couple got popped the day I was there, a few weeks ago. Last time I was checked there by a game warden...they were trainging a new rookie it seemed. That place is their little pet project.....and for good reason.

    Re: Beaver Lake

I fished Beaver this morning from 8-11:30. I only caught 7. No keepers. 1 on a swim bait, 2 on spinnerbait and the rest on a jerk bait. When I got home had lunch and headed to herrington with my boy. Aired the boat out pretty good. Son was smiling and trying to talk, was funny cause he was getting so much wind it was blowing his cheeks out. Spit streaking out of his mouth.

Took off at Pandora, towed a boat in. Guys were broke down in a pontoon and were wore out from paddeling. Then we ran up to the Hogs Back. The island past Gwinn. Then home. Good day to be out just cruising around and throwing rocks.

I guess you didn't see any jumps at Herrington?

    Re: Beaver Lake

I fished Beaver a couple times a year and generally don't see the F&W. Last year, I passed a couple guys grinning from ear to ear...I asked how they were doing, and each guy lifted a fish basket out of the water, and they were full to the lid with fish (bass, cat fish, crappie, bream, etc.). Kinda wish F&W was there that day, since they were cleaning out the population.

On another trip, I saw a guy snag fishing for bass on beds (snagging them with a large treble hook...no bait). I thought this was illegal?

I would rather have the F&W enforce the fish limits, as opposed to citing me for running my big engine at idle back to the ramp...after fishing all day and my trolling motor batteries are dead.

DJD--I was at Herrington Saturday just before dark, and it was jump time.
