    ky lake 3/30 thru 4/2

camped at hillman ferry campground, nice place and friendly people. i would recommend to anyone. they have a few spots on the water where you can beach your boat but you'll probably want to check on availability or reserve them before you go. fishing was a little slow for us. we were mostly crappie fishing and ended up with about 15 total. not near as good as we did last year. we were mostly casting curly tail grubs to the bank. water rose while we were there and the fish were scattered. fished the bays on the east side, a couple banks on the west, the mouth of Johnathon creek, and the canal between ky and barkley. caught several small smallies along the rocks in the canal. the crappie we managed were in 4 to 6 ft of water around wood. largemouth were fairly plentiful but small. most of those we caught in the backs of bays and creeks....shallow. wind was terrible every day so we couldnt fish the main lake at all. main lake water temp was 55 to 61 toward backs of bays and creeks. hope this helps some one.

Stayed in same campground (hillman ferry) from 4/1-4/4 and mostly bass fished. Wind was brutal as DWH said. Backs of coves were best-especially a couple hours leading up to dark where they were feeding non-stop on shad. lipless crankbaits and white spinnerbaits did the trick pretty well. Didnt go out on main lake too much due to all the wind.

Fished the LBL side of Ky lake hopped the bays from Hughes to Paris bridge. Had a limit but small fish, largest was a 17 1/2" smallie. All fish on main lake points and secondary points. They were staged in about 8 to 10 foot of water all stacked in one prime spot.
