battery reccomendations

You can ask 20 and get 20 different answers. Trolling Motor batteries and it is Carquest Gold Deep Cycle Marine batteries. First set lasted 5 1/2 years and just replaced last spring with my second set and would not expect anything less. Even when fishing 14-16 hour days like I have been know to do at Ky Lake NEVER ran out of juice. Pulled planer boards all day at Cumberland for Stripers and NEVER ran out of juice.

I Have die hards from sears. There are two different kinds platinum and the die hard. in the die hard their are 3 different sizes I have the middle one. On a day with light winds I can run for about 10 hours and on a windy day I can only run about 5 or maybe 6. I run a 24v 65thrust minn kota edge. I fish hard and feel that most of the time I am trying to conserve my battery. I wouldn’t recommend the die hard for the serious angler. unless you try the platinum for 190-240$ each

THE biggest KEY to batteries is to ALWAYS make sure you charge them RIGHT, and MAKE SURE they always have water over the plates. If you miss filling them just one time and there is a little bit of lead plate exposed in the battery, you will take YEARS off the battery.

I purchased a flowrite system with my last set of batteries, and I always make sure I dump some water in them after every trip. I only put in 1 or 2 ounces every time, but I'm SURE the batteries are always flooded.

A couple other things.

* Vibration is VERY BAD.........you will add life to your batteries by eliminating vibration. I rubber pad, or something under the trays works great. They also make some anti vibration gel pads that work. ANYTHING to dampen it will work.

* As stated earlier.........the lead plates must ALWAYS be flooded if you let them get exposed you just ATE a battery.

* CHARGE them right.....

I would recommend going with 6 volt golf cart batteries. you'll need 4 for 24 volt system.
These batteries will last a lot longer than 12 volt batteries.

I would look at going to 6 volt golf cart batteries. They last a long time the set in my had been in it for 4 years before I changed out 2 of them this year. You'll need 4 for a 24 volt system, and if you rig them like mine they'll charge your trolling motor batteries while running your outboard.

Practically anything is better than Neverstart batteries. I've always had good service from Deka batteries.
