With the level in the Newburgh pool at 18.5 you should be fine. Actually the old Alcoa ramp is now a public access ramp and is in Little Pigeon. To get to Cypress you'll have to come down river about a mile........

If you plan on getting there through downtown newburgh by the dam forget it - they have the road closed and you have detour around to get to 66 . Found that out Monday heading for Yankeetown . The ramp there by Alcola is kinda isolated and unless its the middle of the day with traffic I would be leery of getting the truck broke into . I heard one time someone slashed the game wardens tires there . Not thats its funny or anything ................
anybody ever do any good up cypress? i've always wanted to try it out, just never got around to it
By cypress, are we talkin bout little pigeon? My brother calls it cypress but i call it little pigeon.. I've assumed its the same creek. Its a good creek tho Steve.. lots and lots of stumps and a good number of bass to go with them. I dont hardly fish the Evansville pool although i will more this year, i almost always go ahead to yankeetown
Cypress Creek is a different creek than Little Pigeon Creek.

I had been thinking about taking my little boat back into there for some crappie fishin... its been a long time since I have been in either of the creeks. Where is the best access point for cypress, and the best way to get there from Evansville?
cypress creek is above the dam right? thats what i was talking about...the backwater area with some small camps
Cypress creek comes out of the backwater by the little community that used to be called Vanada Station. Theres a bridge very near the old Alcoa union hall. When you cross that bridge you are crossing Cypress Creek. The only practical way to get there is to go into and through Yankeetown to the Public Access ramp (used to be the Alcoa ramp). That is on Little Pigeon. To get to Cypress go down Little Pigeon to the river and go downstream for about a mile, past both power plants and you will come to the mouth of Cypress Creek. If your not familiar with Little Pigeon be VERY careful. It is full of stumps and snags. GO SLOW
Last year you couldnt get back into the backwater.. trees blocked it up. I managed to get back there pretty far but there was one tree that just totally blocked it.
