I headed out this weekend with a good friend of mine in hopes of helping him close the deal on a turkey they had nicknamed "the limper". Ole limper was a bad dude that ruled the roost in his neck of the woods. There were a couple close calls earlier in the season when he gained the nickname but things never seemed to work out. My buddy was struggling to close the deal, so a couple of us joined in the hunt and what a hunt was about to unfold!
Early in the morning we rolled out a little before 3am and headed east. We made one stop to pick up Jesse aka the caller/camera guy. Meeting Jesse was like drinking a case of Ale8's! He was wired and ready to do some killin, lol. My job was to run the decoys as we had a few tricks up our sleeves.
My buddy had a good idea where he thought ole limper was roosted. So, after a pretty good hike up the mountain, Jesse owl hooted but all was quiet except for the frogs in the nearby pond. We eased on in towards the area we were going to setup. Just before reaching our destination all heck broke loose with a stampede! Cows went everywhere! Don't you just love that! We moved up another 100yds or so and put out the decoys and got setup.
Jesse hit the owl call one more time and we about got our hats blown off by a few gobblers right in front of us. Man, this setup was perfect! I could just barely see and I seen a big ole gobbler about 90yds out struttin on a limb. Jesse hit the record button and the rest is history. Check it out and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. What a way to finish the season! I had a blast with these two yahoo's!
