I know I would look at the switch to start with and inspect for any wires getting shorted or pinched when turning the pedal. I never looked inside a maxxum trolling motor pedal so maybe there isn't alot of mechanical parts?

Sounds like the control board in the pedal. Check for a loose or exposed wire. I had one go out and it did everything yours is doing except triping the breaker.
thanks guys i will look at it more tomorrow somemore. I do know its frustrating.
I talked to a guy Friday who said he had bad seals in his and it worked sometimes and then started shorting out all the time...

I have a minn kota 65 Dave rebuilt my entire lower end. works like a brand new trolling motor. super quite and all the power back that it use too have. even gave me a 90 day warrenty.
I have a 65 pd maxxum and had to replace the circiut board in the pedal also. But mine had different symtoms. It for some reason made my motor wine
when your circuit board went out did your button still clicked when you hit the button on the foot control? just wondering because mine still clicks but no power. Just wondering if it aint the armature???
