    Replacing ALL of my batteries

Do any of you have any recomendations? My two trolling motor batteries have not been holding a full charge since winter - I knew it was about time to replace them. Considering Optima's, but not set on it.

Ever since winter, my cranking battery has been a little sluggish, not getting a full charge (with alternator or trickle charger). I added two new graphs and a GPS that is drawing more power than in the past, and according to date on battery it is about time to replace. I accidentally left the master power on after my last trip out, and it completely drained it, now it won't even get close to a full charge - so a new one is probably needed.

Any suggestions or good experiences with deep cycle brands, and cranking brands - a haven't ruled out a dual purpose for the cranking battery either.

I use Interstate Batteries. Just replaced both that were a little over 4 years old.

Re: Replacing ALL of my batteries

I love my Optima's - they have plenty of juice left long after I've tired of fishing. I've gone through multiple 3-4 days of fishing 6-8 hours each day without charge (camping) and have yet to keep me from fishing. When my big motor wouldn't run I've fished all day with TM only - certainly don't cover the same distance - but you tend to find sweet spots you fly by with the big motor running - and my batteries hold up just fine - better than me in this heat!
Optimas are not the least expensive option - but when this sets goes I'll replace them with Optimas.

I like Optimas... they are definitely the best, but out of my budget. My Dad and I have had good luck with good ole everstarts from wally world...

I have three everstart batteries from walmart and they hold a full charge all day long and they are two years old. If I remember these batteries have a 3 year warranty in case they go bad.

When it comes to batteries one general rule usually applies, you get what you pay for.

I use the marine batteries from autozone. They've always worked well for me.

I like the everstarts for the $$, warranty, and with Walmarts close by, if you need it replaced.

My last 2 TM everstart batteries lasted 6 years, and 8 years. Always check water levels, use distilled water, recharge as soon as you get home, and don't overcharge. They will last.

Re: Replacing ALL of my batteries

All 3 of my batteries are Everstart. Bought them about 5 months ago at WalMart and all still hold charge. I take the boat out 2-3 times a week so far no problem with them. Not once do they need to be charged before/after fishing because they're charged directly from the outboard. Thanks to StayNCharge!
