    Debris, what's your biggest?

Over your boating life what's the biggest piece of debis you have hit and what if any damage has it caused. I've been lucky I guess I have hit some real doosies and have yet to cause any real damage that I know of. Skeg is a little ugly and Keel Guard has some Hinky's but as far as I know no real damage.

Hit one at Cumberland one year about 20 to 30 feet long and bigger around than a basketball at 25 miles an hour. It was in big chop and low light conditions and I just flat didn't see it, sounded great when I went over it, lol.

I don't know,,, with all this debris talk this year I just thought it might make an interesting topic to hear some of the stories...........

Last night at Green we hit a nice chunk of a log probably a little smaller than a basketball in diameter. It made a real loud pop and scared the heck out of me, but the boat sustained no damage.

2 years ago I hit a railroad tie down around Cypress Creek on KY Lake. That little mishap cost me a $3800 lower unit and cracked my exhaust housing (didn't know it) - the thing your lower unit bolts too. I replace the L/U and not the mid section and last year the exhaust housing broke and almost lost the lower unit in Jonathan creek the only thing that saved mu L/U was the 1/4" shift rod, it snapped my main drive shaft!!!!

Things I've almost hit - a BBQ pit, refridgerator, and that idiot not using running lights at night.

I was in the back of a creek and hit an object which knocked one of the blades off my prop. Had a bad vibration at slow speed but when speed reached 20 mph the vibration was minimal enough to get me back to the ramp.

    Not me....

But my uncle was on Indian Lake in Ohio... the water was extremely low, leaving a watr purification plants inlet pipe just a few inches below teh surface where it could not be seen. He ripped the lower uint clean off and cracked teh transom... luckily, the city, having not put a warning sign up, paid for it voluntarily...

Oh, forgot last year i was leaving a no-ski zone and didnt notice the bouy was right in front of my boat. I had my frt fishing seats up which i normally take down to run. Chain to the bouy tore up my prop. I felt like a real dumb###. I have been boating for 25 years and never hit a bouy. You can bet i have been watching oa lot closer for them this year !

Cruising down the st johns river in central Florida bout 50 mph. Hit something pretty good bout made me mess myself! We figured a gator or manatee. Transom was already showing spider cracks in the gelcoat this hit finished it off. Had it rebuilt after that.

Toledo Bend back in 74, had a Chrysler yes chrysler pro bass runner with a 115 merc. long shaft. Then it still had full grown trees about a foot above water and thousands about a foot under left from the old Sabine Forrest that was flooded. Stupid me and back then the locals or guides would't tell tourist that brought there own boats about the wisdom of if running wide open to navigate through the openings of the old logging roads that relly only they new. Hit a tree running about 40 and know the whole boat went airbourne. Luckily neither my buddy nor myself was injured and the boat held up pretty well. Hired a guide for the next 2 days though and he would fly in his old tunnel boat.

A lot of stuff, last year hit a complete truck tire, one blade on the prop, thankfully it was an aluminum one that came with the boat, this thing was barely visible at 10 mph, Buoys? yep in the fog so thick it was there in a split second, going maybe 3 miles per hour, hit it anyway. But the worse, I was a passenger, we hit a partialy submerged gill net, wqrapped up a bunch of it, and it chocked trhe engine out, We were lucky, the mich.DNR was out that day and heard our radio call. we got towed about 10 miles to our launch ramp. This was on a yellow perch charter, and there were at least 8 of us that paid, no question about refunded money.

was the start of a open tournament on Herrington, going up the lake my 200 Merc was humming, took the left hand curve just above Mc Kecknie Creek went about 100 yds and the boat turned hard left, I have a hotfoot and was off the gas quickly but it through my partner over against me, he look at me like I had lost my mind! after a second I said for hem to look at the motor it was straight, never saw what it was, and it didnt hurt anything and we was lucky no one was comming up on us from behind on our left,
