New KY Fisherman?

Hey guys, I plan to take my boat out to Cedar Creak this weekend. This will be the first time for me at Cedar Creek, and the first time to have a boat on a lake in KY. I moved from IN, and am aware of a few different rules and regulations that KY has. I just want to make sure I am fully prepared. So any and all input is appreciated. Oh and If it makes a differance I will be attempting to catch a few Largemouths.

Welcome to kentucky, cedar is one of the few lake created for fishing only. I have only been there once. The corps left most of the structure in the lake for attractors and added some while they were at it. There are some nice bass,crappie and bluegill in there but over the last few years the lake is very crowded especially on weekends. If i were to fish there again it would be during the week or at night. Good luck,jc

Go to walmart and get the kentucky fishing guide printed by the kdfw at the sporting goods counter. It has all teh regulations you could possibly want to know...

Cedar Creek has some special regulations you need to be aware of. 20 inch size limit on bass and you can keep only 1 fish per day. It is prohibited to use shad for bait there but here on GRL I've been killing them with very large shad imitating crankbaits. Have fun, good luck and welcome to Kentucky.

i was out on cedar creek memorial day weekend. just be aware that some of that structure is barely under the surface of the water. you might want to drive that boat of yours very cautiously or you'll end up needing a lower unit at best. ( be careful )

Thank you all for your help. I made it out for a little while last evening. I was able to catch a few using the Zoom Horny Toads. I didnt fish alot. Really was just trying to get comfortable with the area. Once again. Thank you!
