    Big Worms and Hooksets?

I posted a week or two ago about using bigger worms and have had some good luck on them lately. I'm getting more hits for sure than using smaller worms but my swing/connect ratio has gone way down. Any tips for landing more fish on these worms?

    5/0 hook usually helps

I believe it is Owner, or maybe Gamakatsu, that makes a real long shank 9/0 or 10/0 hook that works real well with longer worms, such as 10" Power Worms. My hookup ratio has improved since I switched. One problem I had early on was deep-hooking a few fish because I let them chew on the worm too long. Once I started setting the hook sooner on the bite, I very rarely deep-hook one any more.

switch to flourocarbon line. you should see a dramatic difference with a good 5 or 6/0 hook. also set the hook with a little slack line so you get a snap when you pour on the power.

I would like to add using at least a 7ft rod in MH Fast action. I use a 7'6 rod with 20lb and have had no issues for years. I would also experiment with the other replies. Good advice.
