I'm leaving for Canada next week and I had a problem getting some Passport cards for my step daughters. The passport office called and said that I would have to pay $130.00 more for each of the cards to expedite them to get them in time. All of the documentation was complete, however someone said that it was incomplete and delayed issuing of the cards. I called Brett Guthrie's office about 2 pm on Friday. At 9 pm I received a call from the passport office apologizing for their mistake and assuring me that I will get the cards on time.
If you have a reasonable request, politicians will go out of thier way to help you. Thankfully, I have not needed their help in many years, but on two occasions while I was in the Army I asked my Congressman for help and got it both times. They can't do the impossible but they sure can expidite things and cut through red tape. As the old saying goes, it never hurts to ask.
