    Launching at Green River Lake

Okay, so I am officialy hooked on this smallmouth thing and am going to start fishing Green River Lake more since it is close to home. Which ramp is the easiest to launch solo since I fish alone 90% of the time. In other words, which have a dock I can tie up my fiberglass boat without having to beach it to park/retrieve the truck? Thanks.

Lone Valley, no question. Parking lot is close to the ramp, it has a dock and it sits inside a cove that is well protected from wind and waves which makes solo launching/loading easier. Also, it is close to some of the best summertime smallie fishing the lake has to offer.

Excuse my ignorance as I am relatively new to the lake, but is Lone Valley the State Park ramp? Thanks again for all your help.

No, the state dock ramp is close to LV but it is a different ramp. I don't like the state ramp very much because it takes so long to idle out to the throttle-up buoys and I never feel very welcome there because there are always so many houseboaters/residents closeby. There is also a gangway directly in the way of launching/loading your boat and it would be easy to hit it if your not paying close attention. It's just not a very fisherman friendly ramp. If you go to LV you can launch, park and be past the throttle-up buoys in less than 10 minutes. Less than that if you have a buddy with you.

Slobslayer, now I am confused!! Lone Valley is definately a KY State Park Ramp, at least it was the last time I was there. Are you saying that the "State Dock Ramp" is the one next to the Marina nearest the ****? If so, I agree it is hard to use and I prefer the State Park ramp at Lone Valley.

Most folks around here use the term State Dock for the ramp next to the marina closest to the dam. Green River Marina is its official name now. Years ago their name was Kentucky State Boat Dock or something to that effect. Same deal as Emerald Isle was named Taylor County Boat Dock originally and some people still use that name. Lone Valley State Park Ramp is locally known as just plain old Lone Valley. If anyone gets confused you can stop somewhere and ask, everyone around here knows the difference.
