I would suggest Cave Run if your wanting to do more fishing than hiking. Twin Knobs, Zilpo, and Clay Lick are all great camp grounds right on the lake...

First I need to say thanks to those who made suggestions on places to fish and camp last weekend for me and my family. I ended up camping and fishing Friday thru Sunday at Fryman's Campground on Stoner Creek. It was a great weekend. The family enjoyed the fireworks there at Fryman's on Saturday night, and for me the fishing was GREAT.
Friday we fished Stoner and Strodes and caught bass on crankbaits running 4-8 ft. deep. Also got on an awesome topwater bite Saturday night. It was then we caught our biggest fish of the weekend, a chunky 4.5 pound LM. All in all this weekend we caught over 30 keeper size LM bass (that were all released) and 4 SM bass. The bluegill fishing was really good for my son as well.
Plan on doing it again in a couple weeks, we may either go to Cave Run and find some camping there or the Red River Gorge. Thanks again for the help finding this place on the forum!

Thanks Smallie, my knees definitely want to do more fishing and less hiking. I'd heard about Zilpo, but not the others. I'll ride up that way this week and check the places out. I fished Cave Run one time many, many years ago but the only thing I remember is that the lake had musky in it. Thanks again for sharing the info, it is much appreciated.
