curado reel

I recently purchased a curado e7 reel from the advice I got from this site, and im super happy with the reel, best reel ive ever used, hands down. Now im thinkin about buying one for my crankin rod. Should i go with the 5.0 ratio and stick with the 7.0 ratio and just reel slower? Since its for crankin is it really that big of a deal I opt for the lower gear ratio, or could I get another 7.0? Let me know what you guys think, thnx!

Go with the 5:1 Curado E5. The slower gear ratio allows your crankbait to reach its maximum depth. Reeling too fast (especially with a 7:1) won't allow your crankbait to dive effectively. To me, it is alot easier to speed up than to slow down, that's why I choose a 5:1 gear ratio for cranking -- it's hard to slow down with a 7:1.

Even thought the E7s have the HEG (High Efficiency) gears made for maximum torque, I believe the 5:1 is a much better reel for cranking applications. I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised with the E5 -- it's a workhorse!

For crankin I would absolutely go with the lower speed ratio. Two things that are beneficial from the lower speed IMO...It will prevent you from over working your crankbait and won't wear your arm out if you are throwing deep divers. The lower gear ratio reels are much easier to crank on deep diving crankbaits because they have more power. Think of it like a bike and how you can go up a hill much easier in first gear then 5th gear.
