In today's comic strip of Shoe, the Senator is visiting a school. He asks: Class, who can tell me what we take up in the Senate?
A student answers: Space!

ok guys I have a political question. I thought the term for President was 4 years. Now wouldnt this November be 2 years he has been in office? Are you looking to vote Obama out this fall or does he have until 2012? So what exactly is this fall election for?
it's for all the other Gubment officials whose terms are up and also for local State House and Senate positions. Plus some Gov. / mayors terms are up.....Finally gonna get a Mayor into Office who (Really ) cares about Louisville and wants to stop all the BS spending by the Mayors Office.....Shame is the crook is running for Lt. Gov. with another useless Gov. that was elected to office by the people of KY. Bet if those who voted Beshear into office had to do it all over again...Ernie Fletcher would still be in Office........
Margie, as he said there are many state, county and city elections coming up but the main thing people are talking about are the Federal Congressional and Senatorial elections. From Wikipedia:
"Both Senators and representatives are chosen through direct election. Each of the 435 members of the House of Representatives represents a district and serves a two-year term before facing the next election. House seats are apportioned among the states by population. Each state, regardless of population, has two senators; since there are fifty states, there are one hundred senators who serve six-year terms. The terms are staggered, so every two years, approximately one-third of the Senate is elected."
As stated Congresspeople have to run every two years but Senators are in for six years. The President serves for four years.

Thanks MsgMills. That sounds like a big overall can be done if everybody gets out there and votes. Its important to have politicians in your back yard doing the best for your city and state.
Thanks Grumpy, if you are dealing with the Senate and House of Representatives then that is also big stuff. That will make a major impact on what Obama can do and cant do I would think. It will be interesting to see how this election goes. I think you will see alot more Republicans voted in this fall.
I know most people here agree with the "vote'm all out" way of thinking...I feel the same way too. But it ain't gonna happen....ain't no way ALL of them will be voted out. I wish it would happen, but it won't.
We all know the bottom line is this; We need people in office that are for the United States nad what's best for the United States, instead of only being for the party they're representing and what's best for they're party.
The main reason I believe it won't happen is because of the ignorance of the U.S. citizens in general....someone on this board wrote not long ago and I quote; "The threat posed by an uneducated populace might well bring us down over the long haul."

To further clarify, when people talk "term limits" what they're generally referring to is limiting the number of terms a Senator or Representative can serve. As it stands, they can be elected and re-elected an unlimited number of times, so some end up in office for a LONG time. The President, on the other hand, can only be elected twice.
Term limits:
Politicians should be able to stay in office as long as they live. I think if they knew "their life depended on the integrity and selflessness of their duty to country and citizens", they might do a better job for us all.
