I am completely ignorant about fishing in the Ohio River, but I'd like to give the sauger fishing a try. Is there any access to bank fishing below the dams on the Ohio? Thanks for any information!

Which dam? In the Lou. area at Mcalpine there is easy access.
Yes, I'm sorry. I did mean the louisville area. Is there anything close to Cincy?
Markland dam on the Indiana side 1 hour from cincinati
There is bank access to a few Ohio river dams. Markland (In Florence Indiana), and McAlpine (In Jeffersonville Indiana) both have some very good access to the tailwaters below the dams. Although Markland is closer to Cincy, McAlpine seems to be more popular for sauger fishing. You can get good catches from both dams though. If you are new to sauger fishing, here is a few tips to start with. 1. Low light periods are best for fishing. 2. Water temps in the 50's. 3. Sauger stay fairly close to bottom (most of the time). 4. White or bright color jigs work well, but its hard to beat a good 2''-3'' minnow fished on jighead or on river bottom. Thats just a few hints to get you started. Have fun on the water and save some sauger for me.
P.S. They are really good eatin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've seen a lot of sauger caught below Markland Dam . The Indiana side is easier to get to , but I've seen more caught on the Kentucky side.
