Quota Hunt-Fishtrap Lake in Pike Co.

Being originally from Pike County I applied for a quota hunt at Fishtrap. I fished it years ago, but never hunted it. Well dad and I were drawn and its this upcoming weekend. Has anyone on the board ever hunted it?? I will be able to go Friday and scout some but would like to have a general area to start. Lick Creek???Grapevine???

Well I hunted my draw hunt this weekend. I had 14 deer come by my stand all weekend. That place is loaded with deer. I had 5 different bucks come by chasing the ladies, but never had a shooter come around. This year they didn't provide a bonus tag so I decided not to take another doe after taking one in early muzzleloader. I still have hopes of a big shooter buck in late season.

Anyway, we went back to the check station to check out yesterday and the wardens had a 400lber in the back of a truck.!!! Only thing was it wasn't a deer. Some 17 year old had poached a huge black bear. The area I hunted had lots of bear tracks so I think they are several in that WMA. The game wardens said they would be opening the gates when bear season ACTUALLY comes in for easy access.

I guess that kid is in a heap of trouble....

Man, I wouldn't want to have to pay the fines that kid is probably going to have for shooting that bear out fo season. Sounds like you had a fine hunt even without pulling the trigger.
