Possible trip to Rough on Sunday - Is the water muddied up or is it fishable?

Didn't want to drive all that way if the recent rains and pulling water had caused it to muddy up. Went last year about this same time and overnight rains had turned creek conditions drastically more muddy than the day before. Buddy of mine and I had really got into some hybrids and good sized largemouths shallow the day before.
I will give some reports throughout the week as I fish during my vacation thanksgiving week.
Please advise as we get closer to Sunday if any conditions change. Much appreciated!

As dry as it has been I dont know if it will be real muddy I just check the water table for rough and the water level seems to be the same so I'm guessing the rain was soak up by the ground. I'm going down to a friends who lives on the river tomarrow but i wont have any way to report anything , He does not have a PC or internet the last time i was down there the water was murky and fishing was lousy for both bass and crappie every thing was too small. They opened up the gate more changing the out flow from 657 CFS to over 1,000CFS and the fish just shut down. Well good luck out there and be safe.

Awesome. Appreciate both of you responding. If anything changes before Sunday and anyone out there could advise, that would be appreciated as well. I'll report as I get chances next week.

We were there a week ago Sunday and water temps started at 52 and warmed to the 54-55 range as the day went on. We had three keepers all day and a couple of slots. Nothing over 2 1/2 all were caught on Shad color shallow crankbaits back in creeks. Not sure how much things have changed since then but good luck.

Went last Friday. We caught 40 just about any way we wanted to. All bites were ultra shallow. We caught several dinks, but we caught several nice ones too. We even tangled w/ a couple of big ones. Don't let the falling water bother you. There was noticible current everywhere we fished. They got the feedbag on! Going back Sat.

Went Sunday and what I was told was true. Water has a nice stain to it. Temps started at 51 and got up to 54 before I left around 2:30pm. Bite was consistent all day for both largemouth and spotted bass. No hybrids. Most of our bites were ultra shallow but we caught them on just about everything we threw. I am going back here within the next hour. I am expecting a great day there today with this front moving in and the wind heavy. Windblown banks seemed to do us better yesterday. We caught about 25 and had 4 keepers. Many fish in the 13-14.75" range. It was a really nice day to be out too. Will report more as I can.

    Rough River Report 11-22-10

Just got back. Another great day to be on the water and it was more than what I expected. The bites were bigger today. Was on my own and fished from noon to about 5:15, catching 15 with 4 keepers. Lost another keeper near the boat. Best two weighed between 4-5 lbs each. There were bites still ultra shallow but I did catch a few decent ones on the first ledge out. Keyed on windy banks and points off main river channel. From 3:30 to about 4:30 was one of the funnest times I've ever had on Rough River. Going back tomorrow after the rain. Water temps same as yesterday but water was more stained around banks due to strong winds.

Tuesday = 8 keepers largemouth + 4 that would have been in slot. Biggest was about 3 lbs. The wind was out of the completely opposite direction and it was around 15 degrees cooler, but they were biting. Had a great day. Fished from about 9am to 5pm. Hardly a boat on the water too.
I am afraid that the rest of my week off will be dampered by this bad weather coming in, but at least I got to enjoy some good fishing before winter.

Re: Possible trip to Rough on Sunday - Is the water muddied up or is it fishable?

I took off work wed. went to Rough it rained all day abit chilly too.Probably 1 of the best vacation days I've ever used.I know I had over 15 keepers 1 over 5lbs. 5 or 6 around 3lbs. each. Got one between 4.5-5lbs. next to the boat went to lip it ,grabbed the line to pick it up.and it broke off. That 1 would have put around 20lbs.Not bad for late nov.Fished till dark and only seen 2 other boats all day, it was great.( note to self, if it's cold and rainy don't be afraid).Would have went back today (dang holidays). I hope it doesn't change too much after the cold front coming in tonight, but I bet it does.
