Article says bail was $500....so that's begs the question, what would the fine be for their offense? Guess I never did understand the Gov.....![]()
Boone I don't understand. $500.00 bail seems more than fair to me. These fellows were harvesting paddle fish for commercial purposes, not for self consumption. The state is investing 1000s and 1000s of dollars to try and bring the population of paddle fish back and here these guys are taking them for thier eggs to sell as caviar.
They are innocent untill proven guilty, but sounds like a strong case. I would hope the fine is ^ than the $500.00. If everyone starts taking these fish for commercial purposes we will have wasted the investments to bring them back. Soon no one will will be able to harvest one.
If you are so anti-government, start trowing your strippers, Hybrids, trout, Largemouths, smallmouths and crappie all back. We can do away with DFW altogether as wastefull gov-ment spending.
What difference does it make what their bail is? They'll get it back when they stand trial anyway....Just hope they get what's coming to them, and when you start talking about federal offenses it could get serious
Bail has more to do with how likely you are to show up for court rather than become a fugitive, and believe it or not can have a lot to do with the reputation of your lawyer. That's why sometimes you'll see people who are facing very serious charges getting out on what seems like light bail. But regardless of all that, I'd give the article a thumbs-up rather than a thumbs-down, just because I'm always glad to read about poachers getting busted. I hope they do face federal charges, and get the max they have coming. No bail in the federal system. A poacher's no better than a thief. That is, assuming they're actually guilty.

Just saying that there are some that think government is to intrusive (and in some cases this is true) and that it is ok to scoff laws, rules and regulations. I wanted to remind some of us that our public fisheries are managed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and they expend much effort improving our fisheries. They are the ones stocking lakes with stripers, bass, crappie, trout and countless other fish. Even if you catch and release, you would not be catching if they don't stock and research fish populations.
Just show some respect and support for the Department of Fish and Wildlife. They got a tough job when it comes to poaching.
Lordy Lordy, Sorry just a little slow today. I just caught the typo misspell.
Next stripper I catch I'm gonna stuff a new $1.00 bill in the gills before I release it.
LOL
Strippers should be strictly catch and release....don't wanna take em home with ya
