Just for kicks and giggles how many of you would actually fish a striper tournament at Cumberland?? Something that would be a good time deal with say a $100 entry fee 100% payback. Just something for a future thought. We wish all you a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Not for me...Lots of reasons for NO!Just for kicks and giggles how many of you would actually fish a striper tournament at Cumberland?? Something that would be a good time deal with say a $100 entry fee 100% payback. Just something for a future thought. We wish all you a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

If it were legit.....I would love to!
Me thinks no. Here's why.
1. Me thinks Striper mortality is such that a catch and release would not work.
2. Me hates to fish under pressure, other than the barometer.
3. Me hates to give my money to people I don't know and who catch my fish.
4. I don't like to get up that early.
5. I'd rather see an Asian Carp Tournament on the Ohio, with no fish limit, and no size limit. Lets let a tourney have a positive clean-up benefit.
And last but not least........uh.........I can't remember the last one......oh well......whatever.![]()
Not for me. I would do it with friend that I can talk Smack to and dont have to worry about bad feelings(they'll get over it). I like to sleep in and don't get up until 10 am and then off to get a big Captains Special breakfast and then take my time getting to the lake. Fish the rest of the day and then half the night. That is my routine. If I had to change my routine it wouldn't be any fun for me. The only reason to do any fishing is because it is fun, or should be. I'm with Hbob on this one. Happy Thanksgiving!
I fished one about 5 yrs ago by that fly by night outfit NSBA and they had a big swim pool set up and bragged about the tubes to keep the fish alive when bringing them in so guess what theywere only able to release 4 live ones back which probably died later. All of the other ones died during the weigh in or before they could get them released.Just for kicks and giggles how many of you would actually fish a striper tournament at Cumberland?? I know this for a fact for they did let several have the fish to clean.
Tournament not a good idea it just kills fish.
How about a Catfish Tournament on Cumberland?
Catch and release is more promising this time of year than in the summer if you take care of the fish. I still worry with releasing 16#ers or above in 60 degree water or above, but we are below that now. We did catch and release this past week unless it was 16# or over or we couldn't do an in the water release.
The issue is culling dead fish at this point. As striper Joe said, the tubes were promising but missed the mark (in my book). I fished in a low low low key club tourney years ago that had a zero entry fee and you won a hat or a cap. If you want to tourney fish stripers, do it with zero monitary value behind it and do it in the name of sharing info among your friends. That's my take anyway..
there is a myth about striper mortality rate. The fish can be revived by relieving their air bladder, and letting the fish recover. I have been reviving them for years. This can't be a serious post. Burping a striped bass (or black bass) is impossible. They do not have a connection between their gut and air bladder. But the "air bladder" isn't even the issue with striper mortality. I suggest you do a butt load more research if this is what you really believe.
Here's a head start. Google terms like:
lactic acid
striped bass mortality
Or put them together! striped bass mortality lactic acid
