Rob and I got back around 10:00pm tonight. Fishing was a little tough. We caught 11 on Friday, 8 or so on Saturday, and 15 on Sunday.
Biggest fish were a 4lb smallie on a jig, and a 3.6, and 3.8 on the jig. We also caught a couple good ones on the FnF, including a 3.8lb fish that I caught today.
Most of the fish today were caught on the fly, and we missed a couple serious fish. Unfortunately most fly fish were under 10 inches in size......VERY disappointing for the fly.
My next trip is in 3 weekends.........I cannot wait.
Later,
Geo

Sorry your trip wasn't the best. I would think that the lake turnover had alot to do with your results. Hopefully you'll whack 'em on your next trip. Dale is like heaven on earth in my opinion -- If you're not smacking smallmouth, at least you can enjoy the scenery. Good luck next time.
i see no turnover...anywhere
How far could you see down? It starts with temps, not visibility.
I will be down Tuesday night to start Wednesday for the entire month consecutive and I hear the fish won't start biting until then. They called me last night and said that my honey holes are stacked with 5 pounders and they asked when my FNF jig would be working thru the area. I explained to them a few cast before first light on Wednesday and every morning after that for the entire month of December and they were very excited. They also told me that had a couple in the 23 inch range that were holding out until Sat and Sun because they wanted their picture on the websites for the Billy Westmoreland Tourney. I told them that would be just fine and they would be taken good care of for I had a huge livewell and the holding tank at the weigh in booth had plenty of oxygen. They also said that both the 23's and a couple of 15 inchers would hit before 9am as to get in the boat and we would go ahead to the weigh in then and sleep the rest of the day.Thought I would pass this along to you Geo.

I'm sure you're going to stick some fish..........
Given my history on Dale, this sounds like a pretty good trip! I've zero'd on Dale several times. I've never fished this late in the year. I'm not sure if I fished Elnut's honey holes if it would improve my luck on this lake.Rob and I got back around 10:00pm tonight. Fishing was a little tough. Not really. What end of the lake are you fishing? I fished the KY side, the reciprocal waters, and the northern TN waters and I could tell you that last Monday the lake was turning over.
I also got a report from a friend that fished this past Saturday and he confirmed the turnover as well. Don't know where exactly he was fishing though.....
north TN i believe. perhaps its starting to clear up where we were. maybe not. it just had a slight cloudy look to it in some spots. nothing really dirty or black though. if it was, fish seemed to not care. i just couldnt hook anything to save my lifeNot really. It really was never dark like I normally relate to turnover. More like it was cloudy from runoff....at least that is what Embrey and I thought it was. Maybe it was some turnover and that turnover was nearly done.
Like Embrey said.......we got a TON of hits on Saturday, and simply could not hookup. Some of these were small hits obviously, but a lot of them were SOLID fish with solid hookups that would simply come unbuttoned after a couple cranks.
I'm hoping to get down there in a couple weeks and then again over the 18th. Maybe by then there will be some consistency.
Later,
Geo
