    Ohio State and Enes Kanter

The NCAA did not suspend the players for Jan. 4 Sugar Bowl against the Razorbacks because they "did not receive adequate rules education during the time period the violations occurred."

That is a quote from the following ESPN article.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5950873

Added up, it is over $10k worth of added benefits. Enes Kanter, living in a foreign country, received NO rules education and is ruled permanently ineligible for money his PARENTS accepted on his behalf and used for educational purposes.

Seeing the Cam Newton incident and now this, would some of you non-UK fans and non-UK haters chime in on this and tell me if it seems fair to you? I admit I am biased, maybe I am just not seeing the forest through the trees but this just seems to be a travesty to me.

This really bothers me, please, if I am wrong, educate me as to how this could be any kind of fair.

Re: Ohio State and Enes Kanter

Jamaal Magloire while playing at UK once said in an interview, "We're starting to show spurts of consistency." That's one of my all time favorite UK sports quotes.

Having said that, the NCAA isn't even showing spurts of consistency. Too many rules, too many committees, too many situations where they appear to be making the rules up as they go.

AJ Green at Georgia sells a jersey, sits for 4 games at the beginning of this year.

Ohio State players sell a bunch of crap and will sit games next year, but not the bowl game this year...they weren't adequately educated on the rules. Uhm, okay.

Papa Newton pimps his son's signature for 6-digits, but Cam knew nothing about it. (Yeah, right.)

    Selby at Kansas...

And, I can take my blue tinted glasses off long enough to know that regardless of the Kanter's intentions, he got paid $33K more than he should have.

If Cam can play, and Selby can play, and the Ohio State boys can play in the bowl game....make Kanter pay the money back and let him play.

There seems to be a lot of "I didn't know" going around. It's all a dirty business and it stinks. The consistency of the NCAA governing body in ruling on it is ridiculous.

I have no clue why the NCAA does anything, but I really don't understand the Kanter thing. His dad says they have the $33,000 that has not been touched and he can pay it back right now. The only thing I can think of (and the NCAA has not said this) is that he played on a professional team with and against professionals.

As for the Ohio St. deal, that is absurd. If they were not playing in a BCS game the would be suspended immediately.

I sort of understand the Cam Newton thing. Just because his father asked for money, doesn't actually mean he got it.

The NCAA most certainly makes up rules as they go without question. Here is my only reason I as to why Enes can't play. While the investigation was going on Calapari made a few comments to the effect that it was just a matter of time and Kanter would play. He went as far as to say this on his talk radio show. That kinda of bravado doesn't sit well with the Ego Premadonna's making the rules. Not to mention the fact that there are a few sitting on that board that wanna nail Calipari so bad they can taste it. Ignore the fact that I AM NOT A JC fan, I really feel that the NCAA and some of the board members feel they need to win this one, right or wrong. And from what I've gathered it's wrong and the guy should be able to play.

Re: Ohio State and Enes Kanter

One would only wonder if the fact that the new NCAA president, who is the ex president of Washington University is having any impact on the situation. That would be the Washington University that not only Enes Kantner had previously given a verbal commitment to, but also the university that Terrence Jones also verbally committed to before decommitting and signing with Kentucky. The NCAA is a farce and should be investigated by a Congressional Committee for unfair punishment, bias treatment and just downright stupidity. Oh and what about the Bruce Pearl deal...........they haven't done anything to that &%^#$ liar.
