I have heard good things about the Clinch, and always wanted to fish it. Let us know when you plan on going down this year...I might want to tag along!

Been looking at Web info on FF the Clinch River; tail waters below Norris Dam and it seems like it might just be worth a trip of two this year. Love the Cumberland tail waters below Wolf Creek Dam, but think I need to spread out to other bodies of water, at least until repairs are completed on Wolf Creek Dam.
Anyone here fish the Clinch and if so, how would you rate it. Also, any specific insights or recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,

There's usually good wading on the Clinch in April and May, as TVA tends not to release much water from Norris Dam then. Once air-conditioning season hits, you'll get heavy releases from 1 p.m. on. I stopped fishing the Clinch because I couldn't justify the cost of an out of state fishing license, which is around $85. You can get a three day pass for around $15 but it's a pain to keep doing that. There are several good access points not far off I75.
Bookworm; your comment on the cost of a nonresident TN license (annual license with trout permit) got me thinking about the comparative cost of KY and our surrounding states.
Did a little checking and here's how the states compare:
TN; $81
Va; $72, (with an amendment pending which could increase this to $172)
KY; $60
WV; $53
MO; $49
IN; $46
NC; $40
OH; $40
IL; $38
As a side comment, cost for Alaska is $145
(guys, please correct me if you see an error in the cost)
