Go to Glendale. It's impossible not to catch 100+ fish. Use flukes in white or watermelon or a white spinner bait.

My 8 yo grandson will be here in July. They live in Australia and he has never been fishing. I'm strictly a bass fisherman but I think it would be better to start him off on panfish. I'd like to go somewhere where we can catch fish so it will be a good experience for him. Would like some ideas from some of you folk. I live in Evansville. Don't want your secrets and the information will not be used after July of this year. Thanks for anything you can share with me.........

Don't know about the panfish, but Turtle Creek (north of Evansville, south of Terre Haute) is loaded with catfish. Went last year and caught them everywhere we cast.
The coal mining strip pits around Greene-Sullivan have a good rep, but I have not fished personally.
Dogwood (Glendale) is an excellent panfish lake also.
The Ohio River dam tailraces can be hot for multiple species that time of year. Be sure to exercise caution and wear your PFD's if you have not fished before. I live near in Indiana (near Louisville, KY) and fish the McAlpine tailwaters heavily. Shoot me a pm, or an e-mail address, and I will give you as much info as I can about what works for us here. There is no need to fear the river as long as you use common sense. It is a phenomenal fishery.
