I'm gonna try and make it out to fish Herrington this Saturday and I was wondering what the lake looked like? If anyone could give me a few details it would be much appreciated. Water color, temperature and how trashed is it right now. Thanks in advance.

That's what I figured. If you take your time can you safely run your boat right now.
drove down by gwinn island, water WAY up.It was about to top of guardrail on the road to get to cabins. This was a few days ago so may have changed some.Lots of debris floating.... hope this helps?
Fished Saturday out of Bryants camp. The wind had most of the debris pushed to the side of the lake. Way up in the river water was muddy and 48 degrees, and all the way to the Hogs back water was muddy. Temp at hogs back was 51. The feeder creeks were clearer the farther back I went.
Water had risen ten feet higher than previous weekend. Good luck out there and be safe. A calm morning with no wind will allow debris to be everywhere. Big throbbing spinnerbaits and jigs are the only thing producing for me right now.
Thanks guys for the help. I'm gonna give it a shot Saturday. I think if I use some common sense and take my time I'll be ok. I've been on the lake before when it was way up. I think it was two years ago about this time and fishing was really good then. When the lakes up like it is know you see some crazy things floating down the lake.
On Saturday I put in at Pandoras and went down the lake to Cane Run and Rocky Fork Creeks. Both creeks had about 1 foot of visability with water temperatures between 46 and 48 degrees. I did find very clear water and 54 degree water temps at the very head of Rocky Fork. This was the only place I saw any forms of life, I saw a few bluegills and turtles swimming around. I never had a hit all day throwing spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jigs or beavers. Should be better this weekend I'd presume since the lake should stablize some and the water temps may come up a few degrees. As was previously mentined, there was very little floating debris due to the strong SW winds blowing at 20 mph. I imagine it's much worse now. They really haven't been pulling the lake much, probably becasue the Kentucky River still so high. I notice when I went into Rocky Fork that even with the lake over 750 feet elevation (flood stage) all the spillway gates were closed. Good Luck and let us know how you do.
