HDS 5 issue

Ranger just upgraded front unit to HDS 5 for free. Because old unit has outdated and no replacement parts. But new one keeps drawing lines up and down the screen like it is set too sensitive. Turned it down and it with away but losing a lot of definition now. It was on auto. Do you think something wrong with transducer or connections in boat? Any experience with issue? Thanks

Could be getting cross talk from the back unit. Try turning off back unit and see if it goes away. I could be wrong but I think you can eliminate alot of it by changing ping speed

If you have two units on the boat try changing the frequency on one. For example change the HDS 5 five from 200 khz to to 83 or turn one unit off and see if you still have the problem.

turn noise reduction to off
turn surface clarity to med.
set ping on 17
200kh
and be shure you have the correct transducer selected up in the instlation screen
be shure you have shallow water mode selected
then when your in auto on sensitivity hit the adjust button an run it at about 4 to 6 % if you get above 7 % this is where you will get the lines
set it up like this then put the boat in 15 ft of water
take a 1/2 once jig and bounce it off the bottom under the transduces and watch it on the screen if not vissable adjust sens up 1% then try again
