Why would a state park close when this is a federal issue? I could see the National Forest close down, like Daniel Boone, but thought the state parks would remain open.
If someone goes out tomorrow and they are please post!!!!!
Game wardens are state funded and will be out. However the ramps are indeed Army Corps property funded by federal dollars (not state) and could very well be closed. May be wise to run to the lake and put in at a marina and pay for a slip if you wanna fish....
Ok why would the ramp be closed .there are not rangers sitting there taking up toll. there are no gates to go thru to get to the ramps. Are the **** workers going to leave the damns unattended. Man think about things as they are. All that was mentioned were park rangers at national parks.
They closed the VietNam memorial in 95 and there is nobody that sits there either... so the idea of closing down the ramp isnt so outlandish...
luckily we didnt have to find out
Yea but correct me if i am wrong to get to the memorial you have to go thru a gate . Easily shut down HOW many ramps have a gate across them ? That is why it sounded so far fetched., Close off the lake ,when they are covered with houseboats and marinas. The corps owns the lake if a gov shutdown happened would they remove everyone from the water
There is more than one way to close a ramp. Last May after the flood on Barren River Lake the Corp decided that it was not safe to have fishermen on the lake in boats. The gossip was that some rangers and the Allen County Sheriff were out in boats after the order came down telling fishermen they had to get off the lake. They closed the ramps by putting steel cables and other stuff across the drives to the ramps where they left the main roads. About two weeks later they reopened two ramps and much later all were reopened. That sheriff did win his election last November. Wonder why?
Nope... no gate to get to the memorial. You can basically walk right up to it on an open sidewalk.
Not arguing, but if the govt does this they are stupid. Doesn't cost a thing for a ramp to just sit there and get used. Just put a sign on the fee collection box thats its free till some body can come back to work and start stealing our money again.
they used our tax dollars to build those ramps.
it don't make sense to have to pay a fee, at a ramp that was built with tax dollars anyway.
