I didnt know there was smallies there .
I heard that it was set to reopen in May. I think the date is May 11 was on the Kentucky afield call in show 2 3 weeks ago.
thats great! and roughscott there are tons of smallies there. i usually catch around 70 everytime i go but there isn't anysize to them. the biggest we've ever got outta there was around 2 pounds. but there still fun to catch on light tackle.
A 1.5" Yum craw pappi in crawdad color texas rigged with about a 1/8 oz. weight will catch smallies all day long in otter creek. It is a blast, like fishinfreak said their not real big but you can catch a ton of them. Great place to take a kid and get him/her hooked on fishing.
I use the rebel craw crankbait. i'm not sure what size it is but it's the smallest one i've found. The sky is the limit with that bait, I catch anything that swims in that creek with it.
May 14 is the day! Here is the link with permit information: http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/ottercreek.asp
I drove by the other day just to see the route. About an hour drive from the Highlands area of Louisville.
do you wade it toward the river in the deeper pools or down by the bridge
down stream, you can't go past the bridge because it's fort knox property.
Floyds Fork is open year round. There are fun smallies in there also.
As was said above, it is opening the 14th of May. There are no smallies in Otter Creek so don't waste your time there!![]()
