Man I hear ya there. Someone said on one of the post that Nolin fishing was the best it has been in a long time. I couldn't agree with them more. The high waters earlier force me to fish out of the motor boat instead of the usual canoe runs I make. My white bass numbers are down this year and haven't found good walleyes. I credit that to the internal combustion engine noise verses a wooden paddle. Had to adjust to conditions and fish further down river mainly in the red line area. More or less the lake as it hit summer pool rather early. I'm really impressed with the number of keeper lg. mouths I've been able to land and the ones I didn't. Also some really impressive crappies.
I was really surprised to see how quickly they dropped the lake last time. Don't tear into it to heavily. One week I went down and water was 7' above the parking lot at bacon Creek ramp. Next week it was right around summer pool. Hope they can repeat that.
lake was dropping and looked like it had drooped like 6" from 7:30am to around 3:30 pm. Water was stained, but not choc milk. visibility was around the 1 foot mark.
Crappie hitting on Pink and black jigs slowly fished.
Bass were caught on pig-n-jig combo and crank baits of about any type and color.
water temp was 59.2 at 7:30 am and got up to 64.7 at around 3:30 pm.
All fish were caught off the shore line , to about where the normal bank line would have been had the lake not risen.
Mr. Mills, thx for the report. Assume you fished Thursday? What area of the lake did you find the 1 ft visibility? Roughly how many crappie hits did you have in how much time fishing? Just got to the lake tonight and wondering if it will be worth fishing Sat/Sun. Lot more rain moving thru here tonight.
